Description
Paving Bedding Mortar for Patios, Paths and Public Spaces
Paving Bedding Mortar combines selected sands, cements and additives to create a strong bedding layer for rigid, bound paving construction.
Suitable for stone, clay, concrete and porcelain paving units, it can be used for domestic, commercial and public realm projects. Its performance supports pedestrian and vehicular applications where the complete paving construction is designed for the intended loads.
Suitable Applications
- Domestic patios and garden paths.
- Commercial paving.
- Public spaces and pedestrian areas.
- Carriageways and paving designed for vehicular traffic.
- Bedding stone, clay, concrete and porcelain paving units.
Key Features
- Versatile paving compatibility: suitable for a wide range of paving materials.
- High compressive strength: typical performance exceeding 35 N/mm² after 28 days.
- 10–100mm application depth per pass: thicker sections can be built using subsequent passes.
- Pedestrian and vehicular applications: suitable where the base and paving construction meet the project requirements.
- Factory-produced quality: a consistent blend from bag to bag.
- 20kg bags: supplied in protective, recyclable packaging.

Mixing Guidance
Use a mechanical mixing method, such as a suitable slow-speed, high-torque drill and mixing paddle. Follow the water quantity confirmed on the packaging or by technical support.
Mix for at least 3 minutes until a uniform consistency suitable for the application is achieved. Mixing too wet or too dry will impair performance.
Use within 60 minutes of mixing. Do not add water to revive mortar that has begun to set.
Preparation and Application
The base must be stable, structurally adequate for the intended traffic, and free from loose material, oil, grease and other contamination.
Pre-soak the base and remove any standing water. Applying a compatible priming slurry to the base is recommended to improve bonding. Where used, lay the mortar wet-on-wet onto the freshly applied slurry.
Apply the mortar at a thickness of 10–100mm per pass. Prime the underside of each paving unit with a compatible priming slurry immediately before placing it onto the mortar bed and tapping it level. Priming the underside is essential to achieve sufficient bond.
Allow at least 12 hours before light foot traffic and 1–2 days before vehicular traffic, depending on site conditions.
Do not use below 5°C or where ground frost is present or expected overnight. Follow the Product Data Sheet and project specification for the complete paving system.
Storage
Store unopened bags in cool, dry conditions, raised off the ground on a pallet or shelf and protected from wind and rain.
